Titans’ Mike Vrabel shares thoughts on Desmond King trade

The Tennessee Titans have acquired cornerback Desmond King II in a trade with the Los Angeles Chargers just one day before the NFL trade deadline passes on Tuesday.

Head coach Mike Vrabel basically confirmed that the deal has gone down, which was reportedly for a sixth-round pick. Vrabel met with the media on Monday and talked about what King brings to the table, among other things.

Vrabel called King “disruptive” and noted his ability to be an effective blitzer when asked to do so. And, judging from Vrabel’s response, King will be lining up on the inside as expected.

As far as when we can expect to see King with the Titans, Vrabel said that likely won’t happen until Saturday at the earliest. The defensive back has to pass six COVID-19 tests over six days before he can join the team.

He wouldn’t rule out King playing in Week 9, though.

If King does indeed make his debut in Week 9, he will do so with only Zoom meetings and a Saturday walk-through under his belt. It’s quite possible that we’ll have to wait until Week 10 for King to make his debut with the Titans.

Whatever the case may be, this deal was exactly what the doctor ordered for the Titans, who desperately needed an upgrade to their struggling secondary.
