Titans’ Mike Vrabel praises Jadeveon Clowney during Wednesday conference call

The Tennessee Titans have made plenty of notable moves throughout free agency, but one that hasn’t been made that many have kept an eye on is a potential signing of edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney.

Head coach Mike Vrabel touched on Clowney on Wednesday after general manager Jon Robinson confirmed in an earlier conference call that the team has spoken to his reps.

Vrabel had high praise for him and noted Clowney’s versatility, while also pointing out how hard he played for Vrabel when he was the defensive coordinator of the Houston Texans in 2017.

According to ESPN’s Dianna Russini, the Titans do have interest in potentially bringing Clowney in, and he has apparently lowered his asking price.

The 27-year-old recorded the highest sack total of his career with Vrabel as his defensive coordinator, finishing with 9.5 sacks in 2017.

Clowney recorded 31 tackles (21 solo), 13 QB hits, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, three passes defensed and one interception for the Seahawks in 2019. He also played through a core injury that required surgery during the offseason.

Only time will tell if the Titans make the move to bring Clowney to Nashville, and if he could stay healthy for the team, he could prove to be an incredibly valuable acquisition should he return to the AFC South.
