Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel confirmed that superstar running back Derrick Henry will indeed need surgery on Tuesday his injured foot after suffering the ailment during the Week 8 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
While that much is known, Vrabel did not give a timeline for Henry’s return. Some estimations have Henry possibly missing as little as eight games, but others say he could miss the rest of the season.
“Derrick is going to have surgery in the morning, and we’re not going to put a timeline on when he may return,” Vrabel said. “I know that he’ll do everything that he can to work himself back, to be able to help this football team.”
For now, Vrabel says the Titans will have to “move on” without their best player.
“We will have to move on,” Vrabel continued. “We’ll have to move on, unfortunately, without him here in the short term and not look back.”
Vrabel says the team considered shutting Henry down when he first came up with the injury in the first quarter, but both the player and medical team were fine with him going back in.
Vrabel says there was some thought internally about shutting down Henry for the rest of the game yesterday, but ultimately, they (Henry/medical staff) felt fine about having him continue playing. #Titans

The Titans have already reportedly begun exploring their options outside of the team, as Tennessee is set to work out Adrian Peterson on Monday.
We expect the Titans will add multiple backs in the wake of Henry’s injury, whether that be through free agency, trade, or both, and ultimately have a running back by committee that will also include Jeremy McNichols.
