Titans make Chris Hubbard signing official among 2 moves

The Tennessee Titans announced a pair of roster moves on Friday, one of which included agreeing to terms with free-agent offensive lineman, Chris Hubbard.

The terms of the deal with Hubbard were not disclosed. To make room on the roster for the veteran offensive lineman, who has experience playing at both guard and tackle, the Titans waived 2023 undrafted free agent, James Empey.

While he can play at multiple spots upfront, Hubbard figures to factor into the equation at right tackle, where the Titans are searching for a temporary starter thanks to Nicholas Petit-Frere’s six-game suspension.

Hubbard’s stiffest competition at the moment appears to be 2023 UDFA John Ojukwu and veteran lineman Jamarco Jones, both of whom were listed as the players who will get significant early reps at the position in training camp.

The 32-year-old has a major advantage in terms of experience over both of those players, but he’s also not played much in the last two years, making him more of a wild card than not.

Even if he doesn’t land a starting job, Hubbard should provide stable depth for Tennessee.

The Titans also pursued veteran offensive tackle George Fant, even bringing him in a for a workout recently. However, according to AtoZ Sports’ Buck Reising, the Titans’ offer wasn’t up to snuff for Fant.
