Titans low on cap space ahead of NFL trade deadline

With the NFL trade deadline getting closer by the day (Nov. 1) many within the Tennessee Titans’ fanbase are holding out hope that the team will make a move to improve the roster.

If the team does indeed have aspirations to make a deadline move, they’ll have to get creative with their salary cap.

According to Over the Cap, Tennessee currently has $1.59 million in cap space, the second-lowest total in the NFL. The Titans only rank ahead of the Minnesota Vikings.

Of course, if a team really wants to get something done, there’s always a way to manipulate the salary cap. If they were to go that route, the likeliest option for the Titans at this point of the season would be to restructure a contract or two.

Truthfully, it’s probably unlikely that any significant move is made prior to the November 1st trade deadline, but you can’t rule out anything until the date officially passes.

Nonetheless, where there’s a will, there’s always a way, and that’s no different here.

The real question is if there’s anyone realistically available who would be worth manipulating the salary cap for, ultimately leading to financial repercussions at some point in the near future.

It remains to be seen how all this plays out, but the entire fanbase will be watching closely in hopes that the team finds a way to bring in another competent body to help out one of their positions of need (wide receiver, offensive line).
