Tennessee Titans linebacker Wesley Woodyard stepped off the field for the day on Friday to team with Sparkle and surprise teachers with school supplies in Nashville.
Woodyard reminisces on his elementary school experience and how his teachers impacted his life.
“My fourth grade teacher really wrapped her arms around me and treated me as her own and believed in me,” he said.
Woodyard recognizes his platform and his ability to help alleviate the teachers’ out-of-pocket expenses they spend on their classroom each year.
“Teachers spend about $564 a year on their classroom annually. It’s important to take away some of that burden they have at the beginning of the school year. I want them to know we believe and support their vision for providing the future with the best education possible,” he explained.
In addition to providing school supplies to teachers, Woodyard will also be honoring one inspiring Nashville educator who has been a vital asset in providing students with opportunities at school on August 9th.
In the conversation, Woodyard also spoke on Tennessee’s dominant, 27-10 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night.
“We know it’s the preseason, but when you’re in that mood at training camp you want to face an opponent and get a victory– regardless on if it counts or not,” he said.
“We are aiming to be in the top five defense. We’re ready to get back to dominating on defense this season.”
The Titans play their next preseason game on Aug. 17 when the New England Patriots travel to Nissan Stadium.
