Titans’ Josh Kline struggled more than most guards in 2018

It’s no secret the Tennessee Titans’ offensive line struggled more than most others in the league in 2018.

The unit as a whole actually showed regression, as the o-line allowed more sacks in 2018 (47) than it did in 2017 (35).

One player in particular who had a difficult time last season was guard Josh Kline. When Pro Football Focus released its season review for the Titans, it was mentioned that Kline was one of the most lowly ranked at his position in the league.

According to PFF, Kline allowed a total of 38 pressures on the season, making him just the 53rd-highest rated guard in the NFL.

It was largely because of the shortcomings of Kline and the o-line that Mariota was limited to 14 games due to injury in 2018, and finished below the middle of the pack as the 18th-highest rated quarterback in the league (76.8).

Things got even worse for backup Blaine Gabbert, who ranked dead last with a 33.6 overall grade.

Regardless of what the Titans decide to do with Kline and the rest of the unit, they must make some serious changes this offseason to help the offense reach its full potential in 2019.
