Titans’ Isaiah Wilson delivers powerful message on death of George Floyd

Tennessee Titans first-round 2020 NFL Draft pick Isaiah Wilson delivered a powerful message on the death of George Floyd, as protests continue to take place all around the country.

Wilson, selected at No. 29 overall by the Titans this year, sounded off on the situation via Twitter on Sunday afternoon, and it’s clear that Floyd’s death has hit close to home for the Georgia product.

“My heart hurts because I am George Floyd,” he wrote. “When I take off the uniform and I’m no longer on the field I am George Floyd. My family is George Floyd. My friends are George Floyd. If you don’t understand the sentiment practice empathy and think about if your family/friends didn’t survive a police encounter for drinking a beer a year too young. Im not political. Im for humans. A balanced equilibrium where we are all the same. Please be safe during this trying time.”

Wilson isn’t the only Titans player to sound off on the situation, as quarterback Ryan Tannehill also addressed the tragic death of Floyd in a statement he released on Twitter last Wednesday.

It’s clear Wilson is already displaying leadership ability off the field, and he’ll be able to prove what exactly he can do on it as the Titans seek to fill the void left by right tackle Jack Conklin this season.
