Titans have still yet to make decision on RT Jack Conklin’s fifth-year option

The Tennessee Titans have still yet to make a decision on right tackle Jack Conklin’s fifth-year option.

For now, it’s of high importance that Conklin return to full capacity healthwise — the contract matter can wait.

It’s going to be difficult for the Titans to give him a fair evaluation until he’s back at 100 percent, which the team is hoping he’ll be at when the 2019 season starts.

“Right now, the most important thing is Jack gets back and that he is healthy,” Vrabel said earlier in the week, “and he is becoming the right tackle that we want him to be. … He has been great. I’ve seen him there rehabbing, and seen him there working out.”

Given the more than adequate performance of offensive lineman Dennis Kelly in his place last year, it will be interesting to see where the Titans ultimately go with Conklin.

It’s quite possible he could be moved to the interior, as a position switch may be best for his skill set.

Conklin has good hands and helps aid the run, but sometimes finds issue with speed rushers off the edge.

Regardless of what the Titans choose to do with Conklin as far as where he’s playing and how long remains with the team, they must enter 2019 with an improved offensive line to be competitive in the AFC South.
