Titans great Eddie George reacts to being HOF semifinalist

For the first time since he has been eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Tennessee Titans great Eddie George is a semifinalist, one of 26 hoping to move on to the next phase of voting.

From here, the field of 26 (you can check out the full list right here) will be whittled down to 15, and from those 15 the final five will be chosen prior to the Super Bowl, with the results to be revealed at the NFL Honors show.

George, who currently serves as the head coach at Tennessee State, was just happy to be part of the group he’s in now.

“It’s amazing,” George told NFL Network on Wednesday. “It’s such an honor to be considered for the NFL Hall of Fame. (It’s) something that’s completely out of your control. You try not to think about it, but to be considered for this – a semifinalist – is tremendous. I’m just truly, truly floored and honored.

“This is not an easy fraternity to get into. Just to be considered for it is an accomplishment unto itself.”

Should George get in, he’d be the fifth player in NFL history to be inducted after having worn a Titans jersey, joining offensive linemen Bruce Matthews, Steven Hutchinson and Kevin Mawae, and wide receiver Randy Moss.

As far as Houston Oilers are concerned, George would be the 16th member of the franchise to be inducted.
