Titans GM Jon Robinson is open to trading No. 29 overall pick

If the Tennessee Titans are going to add to their stable of picks in the 2020 NFL Draft, the best opportunity to do so will come with their first-round pick at No. 29 overall.

As it stands now, the Titans have seven picks, but none in the fourth or sixth round. What they do have is three picks in the seventh round, some of which could be packaged with the No. 29 overall pick to get another second-round selection and an additional mid-round pick.

During a pre-draft press conference on Monday, Titans general manager Jon Robinson made it clear the team is in fact open for business and he isn’t concerned with not having a first-round pick if he does indeed trade down.

There have been plenty of rumblings that teams like the Titans are looking to trade down from their mid- to late-round spots, as was reported by ESPN’s Jim Nagy.

MMQB’s Albert Breer specifically listed the Titans as a team he thinks could trade down.

We’ve given you the Lions, Giants and Jaguars as potential trade down teams—and the Raiders and Niners could deal down too to fill significant gaps they have in picks on Day 2 (although both might be more inclined to deal their second first-rounders than their firsts). Put the Titans and Seahawks, later in the round, on that list of teams that could look to use their first-rounders as vehicles to start accumulating later picks.

Robinson is no stranger to trading down when the opportunity presents itself and he’s in a prime spot to do that this year. Don’t be surprised if we have to wait another day for the Titans to make their first pick.

The most likely candidate for the Titans to deal with would be a team looking to nab a quarterback like Jordan Love at the end of the first round.
