Titans-Falcons: the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

The Tennessee Titans traveled to Atlanta to take on the Falcons in a Week 4 matchup, and will return to Nashville with a 24-10 win as they prepare for the Buffalo Bills.

The victory moves the Titans to an evened out overall record of 2-2, while the Falcons fall to 1-3.

The Titans seem to have found themselves on offense, with receivers capitalizing on big performances and good quarterback play from Marcus Mariota.

The defense also had a big day, making Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan uneasy in the pocket, and only allowing the team one touchdown.

Here’s a look at what went right, what could have been done better and what shouldn’t have happened in the victory.

The Good.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

• Rookie wide receiver A.J. Brown caught his first career touchdown, and followed it up with a second one.

• The Titans young linebackers had a solid showing. Jayon Brown and Rashaan Evans combined for 8 tackles and a sack and a half.

• Ryan was under duress for most of this contest. Harold Landry recorded 2 sacks, Jurrell Casey and Jayon Brown each had one, and Rashaan Evans had a half one.

• Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota had a great game, completing 18 of his 27 attempts for three touchdowns and a quarterback rating of 129.7.

• Rookie lineman Nate Davis saw his first game action of the season, and the offensive line looked much better than previous weeks with the addition.

• The defense was able to keep Falcons wideout Julio Jones in check only allowing him four receptions.

• This marked the last game the Titans will be without left tackle Taylor Lewan after he was held out on suspension for four games.

The Bad.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

• The defense allowed a touchdown on the opening drive once again in this one.

• The Titans struggled on covering the tight end. Austin Hooper came up with nine receptions for 130 yards as one of the most effective members of the Falcons offense.

The Ugly.

Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

• While Henry did receive 27 carries in this one, a large portion of them came in garbage time.

• Mariota and Henry each had a fumble, which could have proven costly in a game that is as historically close as this one.
