Titans DT Jurrell Casey ready to get back to the field after watching Super Bowl LIII

It took a serious toll on Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Jurrell Casey to be sidelined by a knee injury against the Washington Redskins last season.

“It was definitely hard – very tough for me,” he said in a report by the team’s Jim Wyatt. “I probably cried the first couple of nights. I know it wasn’t too bad of a crazy injury, but just to know that I wasn’t able to help my team the following week, couldn’t participate in one of the biggest games of my career with my teammates, it hurt. It hurt me bad.

While it was difficult to watch his team miss the postseason without being able to be a part of the effort, it was even tougher to watch a team the Titans had previously dominated win it all.

In November, the Titans had defeated the Patriots, 34-10 in Nissan Stadium. While the time period between his injury and now hasn’t been the easiest for Casey, he’s trying to channel his frustration into something more positive.

“After seeing all this, I am bringing more juice,” he said. “After the way last season ended, with a bummer, I have a chip on my shoulder, ready to go. I don’t like the way I ended my season, so I have to get better, get to 100 percent and be ready to roll.”

Casey will spend the remainder of the offseason to fully recover from his injury and get back to full capacity in time for training camp in preparation for the 2019 season.
