Titans’ Derrick Henry named AFC Offensive Player of the Week

For the second time this season, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has been named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.

In Week 17, Henry accomplished a whole host of things, including becoming the eighth player in NFL history to rush for 2,000 yards in a single season.

However, reaching that mark should have been no easy task — well, at least not for mere mortals — as Henry needed 223 yards to get there. Not only did he reach that total, but King Henry also surpassed it by rushing for a career-high 250 yards and two scores.

The former second-round pick finishes the season with 2,027 yards, the fifth-most in a season in NFL history. He also secured his second straight rushing title, the first player to do so since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2006-07.

The Alabama product’s last AFC Offensive Player of the Week award came in Week 6, also courtesy of a matchup against the Texans. Henry torched Houston for 212 yards and two touchdowns, and with his latest 200-yard game he now has three in a row versus the Texans, an NFL record.

Henry’s dominant Week 6 showing against the Texans propelled him to the AFC Offensive Player of the Month award for October.

Tennessee will hope their star back has at least one more big game in him when the Titans host the Baltimore Ravens in Nashville on wild-card weekend.
