Despite not having played a single game since Week 8, when he broke a bone in his foot, Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry remains in the top five in rushing yards in the NFL.
Henry, who was on pace to rush for 2,000 yards and possibly break the single-season rushing yards record, sits with 937, which is good enough for fourth in the league.
Ahead of him are the Indianapolis Colts’ Jonathan Taylor (1,348), the Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Mixon (1,036), and the Minnesota Vikings’ Dalvin Cook (978). One spot behind Henry is the Cleveland Browns’ Nick Chubb (926).
While it looks like Chubb will pass Henry this coming week, The King could remain in the top five for at least another week, as the next closest backs to Henry after Chubb are the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Najee Harris (873) and the Washington Football Team’s Antonio Gibson (836).
As far as Henry’s return from injury is concerned, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that the Titans’ star rusher would be back in time for the playoffs, but he could make a return as soon as Week 18 if the Titans are in a “win-and-in” situation.
The Titans appear set to avoid such a situation, though, as they could clinch the AFC South this week with a win over the Steelers and a loss by the Indianapolis Colts to the New England Patriots.
