Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry has stepped up in a big way for a Nashville firefighter and his family who recently lost their home.
According to Jim Wyatt of Titans Online, Henry made a $10,000 donation from his “Two All” foundation, which was on top of another $5,000 from Campbell’s Chunky Soup, to Jeremy Taylor, a Nashville firefighter who recently lost his new home to a fire.
Thankfully, Taylor, his wife and four daughters were not home at the time of the explosion and fire, but they unfortunately lost all of their belongings in it.
Henry found out about the story through social media and jumped right into action:
“I saw the tweet and I was just touched by it, losing a home is such a tragic occurrence,” Henry said. “Not only did I see the tweet but I saw that he was a Titans fan and also a first responder. Nashville has been through so much as a community – the tornado, the pandemic going on, and then the Christmas bombing. I just wanted to be able to help someone in need and someone who has been helping everyone else throughout this pandemic.”
Taylor was surprised with the donation while at work last week:
“I am blessed, very blessed,” Taylor said. “(This) has definitely been a blessing to my family. I am very overwhelmed. I don’t know what to say.”
Henry’s good deed is yet another example of just how active Titans players are in the Nashville community. All the best to Taylor and his family.
