Titans’ Dennis Kelly reacts to receiving $21 million deal

Whether or not the Tennessee Titans would let right tackle Jack Conklin walk in free agency was one of the biggest offensive lineman stories of this offseason.

While Conklin will no longer be a Titan in 2020 after agreeing to a deal with the Browns, one player the team did retain within the unit is Dennis Kelly.

Kelly has previously stepped up in Conklin’s absence, and some may even say he’s outdone him in the past. Of course, that’s not to discount Conklin’s improvement last season, but Kelly is certainly a more than qualified replacement.

On Monday, it was announced the Titans had reached an agreement on a three-year, $21 million deal with the lineman, meaning he’s part of the plan in Nashville, at least for the foreseeable future.

Kelly took to Twitter shortly after with his reaction.

“So excited and so honored to get to come back to an organization and city that means so much to me and my family,” he wrote.

Kelly was originally selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fifth round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Purdue.

He joined the Titans in August of 2016 after the now-infamous trade that sent Dorial Green-Beckham to the Eagles. Kelly appeared in 15 games (four starts) during the team’s improbable 2019 season.
