If there’s any one general thing the Tennessee Titans are looking for in 2019, it’s consistency.
While this goes for all players, one name that was specifically mentioned was cornerback and kick returner Adoree’ Jackson.
In order any player to function at a high level and play a large role for the team, he’s going to have to deliver consistently solid performances each week.
Titans defensive backs coach Kerry Coombs spoke on Jackson and being consistent this week.
“I think that the corner position in the NFL is a very, very challenging position,” he said. “You’re gonna go against the other teams best players, best athletes week in and week out.”
To Coombs, this means being at a personal best across the board. Without proper preparation, game day can be a rude awakening for players like Jackson.
So, you have to be at your best. That means you have to be at your best physically, you have to be at your best mentally, you have to be at your best level of preparation and I think that learning that consistency on a day in and day out basis is important for every single player and I think it’s especially in the back end. You cannot afford to not be at your best on Sundays and I think they all learn that and it’s tough if you go out there and you’re not… those days are tough.”
In 2018, Jackson saw action all 16 games, starting 13 of them. He posted 73 tackles, 10 passes defensed and two interceptions.
Jackson did individual work throughout OTAs and is continuing to work through rehab following an offseason surgery.
It’s remains unclear if he’ll be limited or at full capacity when training camp kicks off next month.
