Titans could face Colts without Carson Wentz for both 2021 games

The Tennessee Titans’ biggest competition for their AFC South crown, the Indianapolis Colts, have just taken a major hit to their 2021 season.

Colts head coach Frank Reich has revealed that quarterback Carson Wentz, who felt a “twinge” in his foot during a practice last week, will undergo surgery to repair the ailment.

His timetable for return is quite the wide one, as the procedure could sideline him anywhere from five to 12 weeks.

Of course, the Titans and Colts meet twice this season, and depending upon how quickly Wentz can get back on the field, he might miss both of those contests.

One would assume, at the very least, that Wentz will be out for the Week 3 matchup against Tennessee; however, we can’t rule out the injury-prone signal-caller not being ready by Week 8, either.

Wentz was the make-or-break piece for Indy’s season, so without him their 2021 campaign is in trouble. As of now, 2020 fourth-round pick, Jacob Eason, is expected to take the reins barring another move.

If there was any doubt about the Titans’ chances of winning back-to-back AFC South crowns this season, there should no longer be. Tennessee now becomes the runaway favorite for the division with Wentz on the shelf.
