Tennessee Titans wide receiver Corey Davis has gotten off to a solid start to the 2020 season with 10 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown in two games — and he’s also in the midst of an impressive streak.
All 10 of Davis’ receptions in 2020 have gone for first downs, but so have each of his last 24 receptions dating back to last season, which is the longest active streak in the NFL, per Jim Wyatt of Titans Online.
Davis has also been incredibly efficient, as 81.1 percent of his catches dating back to the beginning of the 2019 season have gone for first downs. Only Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Alshon Jeffery (83.7 percent) has a better mark in that span.
While this is all well and good, the former No. 5 overall pick is going to have to put up big numbers this season is he wants to secure a lucrative, long-term deal when he hits the open market in 2021 after the Titans declined his fifth-year option during the offseason.
So far, Davis is off on the right foot. He posted his first 100-yard game since the Week 10 of the 2018 season in Week 1, and he found pay dirt on one of his three catches in Week 2.
Davis will look to continue his first down streak — and impressive start to the season — when the Titans hit the road to take on the Minnesota Vikings at U.S. Bank Stadium on Sunday at noon CDT.
