Titans confirm pursuit of Brandon Smith

Gold Coast Titans have confirmed their interest in Melbourne Storm's Brandon Smith (l). (AAP)

Gold Coast have ramped up their pursuit of Brandon Smith, meeting with the Melbourne hooker at their headquarters on Tuesday.

Smith was snapped meeting with Titans officials at their Parkwood base, where it's believed he met with the likes of Justin Holbrook and football manager Anthony Laffranchi.

Smith is expected to be one of the most in-demand players in the NRL for 2023, after previously being linked with a move away from the Storm with Harry Grant first-choice hooker.

He has family in Queensland, and would be a significant upgrade at dummy-half for the Titans and all three other Queensland clubs for 2023.

Gold Coast CEO Stephen Mitchell has since confirmed Smith's visit.

"He's a sensational player. One of our mandates is energy and effort and he brings a lot of that," Mitchell told 4BC.

"But we're standing in line. There are half a dozen [clubs] that feel the same way about him and for good reason.

"He picked up the Dally M in his position this year and quite rightly. He's a fierce competitor and a formidable force in that spot.

"We are one of a number of clubs who would like his services that is for sure."

It comes after Smith was spotted in Townsville over the weekend, with the Storm not due to return to training until next month.

Smith was previously coached by Cowboys mentor Todd Payten in under-20s at North Queensland.

The Kiwi's manager has also made no secret he is willing to test his star client's value, telling AAP last month he wanted Smith's future resolved "sooner rather than later".
