Titans can’t afford to let AFC South opponents jump on WR Antonio Brown

It’s already been established that Antonio Brown would bring immediate improvement to a rising Tennessee Titans offense.

But the Titans shouldn’t make the move for that reason alone. If the Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts or Jacksonville Jaguars snag him instead, the Titans could face even more problems in an already topsy-turvy AFC South division.

Here’s a quick look at which each opponent may look like in 2019 if they’re able to put Brown on the roster:

Deshaun Watson has shown flashes that should intimidate opponents over the course of his two seasons in the NFL, but he’s been wildly inconsistent as of late.

But one thing Watson does have is the help of some solid targets on offense. If you add Brown to the mix, he’s got three good options that could bail him out even if he’s having a rough game.

Having to contain Brown, Deandre Hopkins and Will Fuller spells trouble for the Tennessee defense.

If the Colts are able to acquire Brown, they’ve put themselves on track to become one of the most formidable offensive forces in the NFL.

Between the efficiency of quarterback Andrew Luck, the stoutness of the offensive line and having T.Y. Hilton as a wideout, the passing game would be difficult to stop.

The Titans have struggled against the Colts in recent times, and have still yet to defeat the team when Luck is under center. But if they allow Indianapolis to bring Brown aboard, they’ve made matters even worse for themselves.

Jacksonville Jaguars

With Blake Bortles having taken his last snap as the Jags’ starting quarterback, Jacksonville faces a lot of questions not only at that position, but within the offense as a whole.

Like the Titans, the team also has need for a big playmaker at wide receiver. After all, Keelan Cole, Marquise Lee, D.J. Chark, and Dede Westbrook are the only players currently under contract at the position.

With this, the Jacksonville offense looks like hardly a problem to defend against. But allow them to make moves in the 2019 NFL Draft and free agency period, and the Titans could be looking at a team with the duo of Dwayne Haskins as a force at quarterback and Brown as an explosive receiver.

The Titans have performed well against the Jaguars lately, and they don’t want that trend to come to a close.
