Titans and Panthers tied for most interceptions by defensive backs in 2019

The Tennessee Titans (4-4) seem to be moving in the right direction as a team, now on a two-game winning streak.

The team will look to extend that number to three as they face the Carolina Panthers on the road this week.

Ahead of the matchup, they share one particular statistic — the Titans and Panthers are currently tied for the most interceptions by defensive backs through eight games in the 2019 season (8).

The only team with more takeaways from defensive backs in the NFL is the New England Patriots (14).

Behind the Titans and Panthers is a four-way tie between the Washington Redskins, San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers (7), with the Los Angeles Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers and Minnesota Vikings (6) next on the list.

Given how close the Titans and Panthers are in this area, it goes without saying that decision-making in the pocket by both Ryan Tannehill and Kyle Allen will be crucial to avoid costly turnovers.

Since taking over during Week 6’s game against the Denver Broncos, Tannehill totals two interceptions.

In five games this season, Allen totals three interceptions — all of which were thrown in last week’s 51-13 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

The Titans and Panthers are set to kick off at noon CT on Sunday in Nissan Stadium.
