Titans and Buccaneers planning for joint practices this preseason

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will host the Tennessee Titans during preseason Week 2 this year, but before that matchup the plan is for both teams to take part in joint practices together.

Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians revealed the plan during an appearance on the Pewter Report Podcast.

“So much of that will depend on how practice goes,” Arians said. “If we get in and have good OTAs and a good mini-camp…  As training camp’s going on we’ve got a week set up with the Titans. Hopefully everything goes (well) so we can do that and we’ll just judge where everybody is at (and decide) how much they play in the preseason.”

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, teams were forbidden from taking part in joint practices last year, but the NFL has erased that restriction for 2021.

This will be the second time in three years that the Titans hold joint practices with a Tom Brady-led team, as Tennessee did so with the New England Patriots in 2019.

Titans beat writer Paul Kuharsky also notes that it’s possible the Titans could meet up with the Atlanta Falcons for joint practices. Tennessee visits the Falcons in preseason Week 1 and there is a connection there with former offensive coordinator and current Atlanta head coach, Arthur Smith.
