Titans agree to terms with safety Jamal Carter

The Tennessee Titans have been plagued by injuries at the safety position during training camp, so the team has added yet another to its roster.

The team announced the addition of safety Jamal Carter on Tuesday, which came hours after the Titans placed recently-signed safety Tedric Thompson on Injured Reserve following his sustaining an injury on Monday.

Tennessee is also dealing with injuries to safeties Matthias Farley, Dane Cruikshank, and 2021 sixth-round pick, Brady Breeze. On Monday, the Titans also added safeties Bradley McDougald and Clayton Geathers.

Originally an undrafted free agent signing of the Denver Broncos out of Miami (FL) in 2017, Carter spent the last two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons after spending his rookie campaign in Denver.

The 27-year-old has tallied 26 tackles and two passes defensed over 26 career contests (no starts). He appeared in just one game for the Falcons in 2020. Carter has played predominantly on special teams.

The Titans are set to hold a pair of joint practices with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Wednesday and Thursday before the two teams meet at Raymond James Stadium on Saturday in Preseason Week 2.
