One thing we already know about Tennessee Titans wide receiver A.J. Brown is that he isn’t a selfish player or person by any stretch, which is a trait he also displayed during his college days.
On Saturday, Brown tweeted out the story of how he took himself out of a game while at Ole Miss so that his teammate, wide receiver Elijah Moore, could record his first catch and touchdown back in 2018.
Moore made the most of his opportunity by taking the pass to the house on a 50-yard scoring play against Southern Illinois in a game that the Rebels won.
As a freshman, Moore finished the season with 36 catches for 398 yards and two touchdowns. He was able to build on that success in 2019, posting 67 catches for 850 yards and six scores.
While Brown missed out on a potential touchdown there, it certainly didn’t hurt his overall production. In what was his final season at Ole Miss before being taken in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Brown totaled 85 receptions for 1,320 yards and six touchdowns.
Of course, Brown went on to have a sensational rookie campaign in the NFL after that, leading all rookie receivers in yards (1,051) and touchdowns (nine).
Earlier this offseason, Brown once again showed just how giving he is by buying a matching jersey for the husband of a fan who had been given one as a gift for Mother’s Day.
