Titans’ A.J. Brown, Julio Jones ranked among top outside WRs in the NFL

A pair of Tennessee Titans wide receivers, A.J. Brown and Julio Jones, made Touchdown Wire’s list of the best players at the position in the NFL going into 2021.

Touchdown Wire’s Mark Schofield actually ranked Brown one spot ahead of Jones, with the former coming in at No. 6 on the list, while the latter landed at No. 7.

The five receivers ranked ahead of Jones and Brown are as follows:

  1. Davante Adams, Green Bay Packers
  2. DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona Cardinals
  3. Tyreek Hill, Kansas City Chiefs
  4. Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears
  5. Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills

Here’s what Schofield had to say about Brown, along with a film breakdown he provided:

One of the joys of having this job is getting to watch some of the best athletes on the planet do what they do on a weekly basis. As someone who focuses on quarterbacks, I’m blessed to get paid to watch players like Tom Brady, Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes and more each week. But I also get to study some incredible wide receivers, and someone who became must-watch for me over the past season is A.J. Brown from the Tennessee Titans.

Brown’s ability to attack the middle of the field without fear or reservation is critical not only to Tennessee’s offensive philosophy, but also the huge numbers he puts up for the Titans. Last season was a career year for the second-year receiver, as he caught 76 passes for 1,158 yards and 12 touchdowns. In this video breakdown you’ll see that fearlessness over the middle — and how that fits into the Titans offense — as well as what he can do in the vertical passing game:

As our own Shaun Calderon explained in a recent article, the Titans’ offense is going to create nightmares for opposing defensive coordinators in 2021.

Not only do they have to try and stop two of the top receivers in the NFL, but they also have to figure out how not to let Derrick Henry go off at the same time.

Tennessee truly has a pick-your-poison offense, and we can’t wait to watch it.
