TIRUPATI: Tirupati urban police wing embarked on an impressive campaign against the use of drugs on the eve of the international day against drug abuse and trafficking on Sunday.
Tirupati SP P Parameswara Reddy flagged off a rally involving sleuths from the Tirupati urban police wing, the special enforcement bureau and scores of students from different schools and colleges. The rally which began at the Annamayya circle in the city ended at the MR Palle junction on Sunday.
Students and police personnel formed a human chain at the MR Palle junction for a brief while in a bid to sensitize the public on the ill-effects of drug abuse on the whole society.
Tirupati SP P Parameswara Reddy observed that the teachers, parents and the civil society must play a key role in ensuring that the student fraternity is protected from falling prey to the drug abuse
