Tirupati MP urges Union minister to establish 20 Jan aushadhi kendras in constituency

TIRUPATI: Tirupati MP Dr M Gurumoothy met the Union minister of state for Chemicals, fertilizers and renewable energy Bhagwanth Khuba and sought his support for the establishment of 20 Jan aushadhi kendras across the constituency.

Speaking to TOI, Tirupati MP said that the Jan Aushadhi Kendras, which provides quality generic medicines at affordable prices, have brought down the healthcare budget of every citizen across the country.

"As they became more useful for poor patients and those suffering from chronic ailments requiring a long period of drug use, I requested the Union minister to sanction 20 Jan Aushadhi kendras for Tirupati Parliamentary constituency. The Union minister responded positively and assured that the requested number of stores would be sanctioned soon”, he added.

The MP also requested the Union minister of state for new and renewable energy to send a team for studying feasibility of implementing renewable energy sources at Venadu and Irukkum Island in the Nellore district and for the effective implementation of nation's goal of achieving 500 GW installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources. The MP pointed out there is dire need to address the gaps in implementing the schemes pertaining to new and renewable energy sources, enhance the sources and find alternative energy sources.

Meanwhile, Tirupati MP Gurumurthy also took to the notice of the union minister of state for chemicals and fertilizers about the construction, completion and production of fertilizer plant in Sarvepalli constituency in Nellore district. The AIC has allotted 289.91 acres of land to Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd (KRIBHCO) for setting up of fertilizer plant (manufacturing phosphates and DAP complex project) with an investment of Rs. 700.00 crore and an employment potential of 2000.

"The site was handed over to KRIBHCO on March 3, 2015 and July 10, 2015 for the implementation of the unit with a time bound of five years. Though the company stated that logistic studies have been completed, it has been found that logistics of transportation of voluminous and hazardous liquid raw material from Krishnapatnam port to the current site makes the project not only complex but also economically unviable due to its distance of over 20 Kms from the port. Hence, we have requested for a change of line of activity from "NPK/DAP" to "Bio-Ethanol Project”, the MP said.
