TIRUPATI: Meda Sundar Rao assumed charge as the new superintendent of police at the red sanders anti-smuggling task force unit headquartered in the temple city of Tirupati on Monday.
Speaking to reporters after taking charge, the new task force SP underlined that the combing operations underway inside the Seshachalam forests to combat the illegal smuggling of red sanders would be intensified in the coming weeks.
"The task force unit will focus all its attention to preserve the red sanders species endemic to the Seshcahalam biosphere region by effectively combating the smuggling activities. Besides intensifying combing operations, the task force unit will equally focus its attention on arresting the kingpins in the trade", asserted the new SP.
