Tired of repeated checks, law student blurts out B-word at Pune airport; booked

PUNE: The Airport police on Thursday night registered a case against a 21-year-old law student for raising a false alarm of having a bomb in his bag when authorities checked his luggage repeatedly on the airport premises.

The student, currently staying at Bhugaon on Paud Road, was supposed to board a flight to Delhi from the Lohegaon airport when the incident occurred, the police said.

Senior police inspector Bharat Jadhav of the Airport police said, "He is a native of Kashmir but his family is currently based in Delhi. He is pursuing his second-year law studies at a college on Paud Road. As the college has gone back to online classes, he was going to Delhi to be with his family," he said.

An officer at the airport, Samiran Vijay Ambule (20) of Dhanori, lodged a complaint in this regard with the police.

"The authorities at the airport checked his bag on a few occasions after he entered the departure section of the airport. His bag was checked when he entered the departure area at 10am, then at the entrance of the lobby, and one more time," Jadhav said.

He added, "The student was perturbed with the authorities, who were repeatedly checking his bags. He asked the authorities why his bag was being repeatedly checked, and suddenly blurted out there was a bomb in his bag. Hearing this, the authorities took him to a side and called the police," Jadhav said.
