Tired Dubliner has 'lucky escape' after reading lamp sets pillow on fire

A Dubliner had a very "lucky escape" after a reading lamp set their pillow on fire.

The tired reader's lamp set the pillow alight with Dublin Fire Brigade called to quickly take care of the blaze before it became more serious.

Firefighters took to social media afterwards to warn people about the dangers of using lamps too near to curtains and bedding.

They said: "If you use lamps for reading or use them as night lights make sure that they are not too close to curtains or bedding.

"Incandescent bulbs produce a lot of heat, CFL bulbs produce less heat and LED produce significantly less heat.

"This was a lucky escape for a tired reader."
