Tips For Playing CAM In EA FC 26 Clubs

If you plan on pumping blood into your offense as a CAM in EA FC 26 Clubs, knowing what to prioritize and what habits to avoid is just as vital as having the perfect build. After all, if misplaced, the main cog can easily break the whole formation apart.

Don’t worry, though, we are here to help. Here are a few tips sure to help you excel as a CAM and awaken your inner Maradona in EA FC 26 Clubs.

Respect Your Role

No matter your position, being able to thread the limits of your role is at the heart of football, which in this case means keeping a clear head and not giving in to both frustration or that all too common protagonist syndrome. We know this might be hard after setting up multiple wasted chances or getting scored on early, but remember to respect your position and trust that, like you, your teammates will perform, be it by making the right runs or having your back defensively.

Stay Communicative (Your Team Cannot Read Minds)

As we pointed out in our best CAM build guide, your main job as a number 10 is to connect your midfield and frontline, something only achievable by staying in constant communication with your team and both taking and giving directions. That is even more important when paired with fellow CAMs in 4-2-2-2 and 4-2-3-1 formations, all of which will require multitasking. When playing with strangers, though, make sure not to hog the coms or spam commands, please.

Pick The Right Pass & Stay Open

While keeping your role in mind is important, being able to get the ball out fast and with precision is the name of the game for any CAM, especially when dealing with pressure from all sides in 11v11. To excel in that, make sure to pick the right type of pass for each situation and avoid gambling on once-in-a-lifetime scenarios. For example, while great for finding strikers behind the lines or closing out one-two plays, a lofted through pass can easily be intercepted if done against a well-posted or aggressive defense. Here’s an overview of the best scenarios to use each of the standard passes:

  • Short Passes: A great tool for any situation. Especially deadly when in close spaces (Tiki Taka) or looking to both stretch the pitch or restart a play.
  • Through and Lofted Passes: When looking to make, set up. or respond to well-timed runs. Ideally, the final relay or touch toward the final third.
  • Lobbed Passes: When performing crosses of any kind. A through lobbed pass can also break apart defenses and give fast strikers and wingers an open field during fast breaks or counterattacks.

As a general tip, it’s also important to take a picture out of Xavi’s book and stay open to both accommodate teammates and follow up on the play. Remember, your job is only done once the ball hits the back of the net.

Pull Your Weight Defensively

An important tip for offensive-minded players, it’s vital that you understand that no, you are not Lionel Messi, and thus need to play a heavy role on both ends of the pitch. But before you ask, this does not mean running back to your box all the time. Instead, be present in the second third of the pitch and make sure to always close passing lanes and put pressure on the opposing midfield, especially from the back. The only exceptions to the rule? When looking to clinch a result, or taking the field with other midfielders capable of picking up the playmaking role in emergencies.

Don’t Be Afraid To Shoot

To close out, we have a vital and often overlooked tip for any attacking player: Shoot. We know this might seem obvious, but when playing as a single CAM with strikers constantly screaming pass, and wingers just looking for excuses to speed up, it’s easy to feel like you don’t have the right to shoot or put excessive weight on a lost ball. Just make sure not to overdo it and keep our previous tips in mind when assembling your plays.

Now that you know what to do, and most importantly, what to avoid while playing as a CAM in FC 26, make sure to also take a look at the top 10 Kits in EA FC 26, ranked.
