Tipping Point's Ben Shephard says he now has 'bionic leg' after horror injury

Ben Shephard said he now has a 'bionic leg' after suffering a horror injury while playing football.

The Good Morning Britain and Tipping Point presenter is currently recovering after tearing his ligaments and muscles.

Last month, Ben had been playing in a veterans' football match, but following the game he was left bed-bound and needing surgery.

Ben, 46, has been sharing his recovery on Instagram, with his latest post showing off his new electrostimulation machine.

Showing his new tool, which is controlled by a remote, around his knee, Ben said: "I've got some shiny new kit, a little bit of tech.

"It's gonna make my muscles work while I'm doing my rehab."

In the next post, he had the brace around his knee and sensors placed on his thighs as he turned it on with the remote.

The tool made a pumping sound which sped up as he turned it up on the remote, reports the Mirror.

Ben captioned the video: "Right just trying to stimulate the quad while reducing the swelling around my knee."

In the next video, he continued to increase the stimulation on his leg as he sat with his feet up on his bed.

Ben captioned the post: "Gone full bionic leg, @complex_uk @physiolabtechnologies."

Ben was left with gruesome injuries after his accident, rupturing his ACL, tearing his meniscus and fracturing his leg.

Sharing the news about his injury, Ben told his followers: "A few weeks to go, you may remember I played in the Cup Final of the Arthur Dunn veterans cup, my old boy's team.

"We won the Cup Final, but I started with two legs and ended with one.

"Without realising, I have ruptured my ACL, I've torn the meniscus and I've fractured part of my leg as well."

Ben's co-host Susanna Reid had sent her well wishes to the presenter on GMB.

Last month he said it would be a "long" and "slow" process to get back to full health.

Speaking after his operation, Ben said in a video he shared online: "So they've repaired the ACL and meniscus and now starts the rehab - very slow, long, rehab. Have to say, the painkillers seem to be doing the job right now!"
