Tipping Point's Ben Shephard leaves viewers red-faced with cheeky 'well-hung' joke

Ben Shephard left Tipping Point viewers hot under the collar with a cheeky joke this week.

The presenter chatted to contestants Dawn and Selena when he let slip an unexpected innuendo that left fans blushing.

"I've lined it up perfectly for you my dear," Dawn said smiling, to which Ben, 46, responded: "That is beautifully set up.

"That is a seriously well hung shelf now," he added, which prompted everyone to burst into laughter.

Ben went on: "And it's all in your hands now Selena."

"All you need to do is get this counter - time for your second question," he added.

Viewers at home were left speechless at the hilarious comment, which is usually used to refer to someone's manhood.

"Ooohh well hung! Ben you're on one today," one fan wrote on Twitter.

Another penned: "Did Ben just say the bottom shelf was 'well hung'? Wow!!!! #tippingpoint."

While a third added: "Thats a well hung shelf!! #tippingpoint."

"It's seriously well hung Selena," as one continued: "Ben's buttering up Selina psychologically, slipping phrases like “well hung” into conversation sneakily. #tippingpoint," another exclaimed.

It comes as Ben was forced to defend himself after landing in hot water for seemingly laughing at a contestant's answer.

He misunderstood player Paul's response when he was asked a question about sunscreen.

During the quick fire round, Ben asked the player what the 'P' in SPF stood for and which Paul didn't know the answer.

He asked to "Pass" the question and move on to the next, but Ben thought it was his answer.

The answer he was looking for was "protection", which would have spelt out: "Sun Protection Factor."

Ben tried to hide his laugh before moving on to the next question.

However, the presenter felt the need to explain himself, saying: "I only laughed because you said pass. No, it's not pass. Protection."
