Tipping point host Ben Shephard pays tribute to player who died before show aired

Tipping Point host Ben Shephard paid tribute to the winner of Friday's show, who passed away before the show aired.

Contestant Margaret died after filming the episode, which aired on Friday night.

Ben confirmed that they broadcast the episode on the wishes of her family, who were keen for the episode to be aired.

Margaret beat the other contestants in her episode to take on the big machine at the end - reports Mirror Online.

While she didn't manage to scoop the jackpot of £10,000 she did leave with a good amount of cash totalling £2,650.

She chose not to gamble her winnings, and Ben gave her a hug before congratulating her.

Margaret had planned to take a trip to India and to buy a new fence with her winnings.

After reaching out to her family ahead of the airing of the episode, ITV learned she had passed away.

Taking to Twitter, the show commented: "After the recording of today's programme, we spoke with Margaret’s family who shared the tragic news of her passing.

"Everyone at Tipping Point would like to extend their sincerest sympathies."

Ben also spoke out, and said: "This was such a lovely show, and Margret was a very special and worthy winner.
