Tipping Point fans spot pop lookalike on show - but accuse him of being 'smug'

Tipping Point viewers might have spotted a pop lookalike on Monday's show, but they were unimpressed by his style of play.

Business improvement consultant, Jacob, appeared on Monday’s edition (April 24) of the ITV game show.

The Newport native also starred alongside contestants Chris, a retired performance analyst from Loughborough, and Roya, an airline roster team leader from Luton, on the long-running programme, hosted by Ben Shephard.

As the three tried to win a jackpot prize from the large arcade machine, fans of the daytime knowledge programme took to social media to share how irked they were by Jacob.

Many claimed the confident amateur quizzer played the game in a "smug" way, with one writing: "Smug g** Jacob."

Another typed: "Yeah ok Jacob."

Whilst a third exclaimed: "Come on now, Jacob. Don’t start being a smug-a***."

A fourth agreed: "He's a bit smug isn't he."

Meanwhile a sixth commented: "It’s not a poker face it’s a smug face."

And a seventh said: "Smuggy McSmugface has got this in the bag."

In the end, Jacob won the jackpot round by outsmarting his fellow contestants. However, not all fans of the show were happy with his win.

He walked away with £3,800, stating that he wants to get a new kit for his football team.

However, not all viewers were displeased with Jacob’s appearance, with one viewer saying he reminded him of Madness frontman Suggs – real name Graham McPherson.

The viewer noted: "Jacob is like a tall Suggs."

It isn’t the first time a contestant has been mistaken for a celebrity on the show.

In March, contestant Tony had fans of the show pointing out his similarity to Kevin Sutherland from comedy series The Inbetweeners.

Tony's demeanour, glasses, sense of style, and even his subtle mannerisms left fans convinced that he had to be somehow related to the famous actor who plays a flamboyant father in the side-splitting sitcom.

One person took to social media, writing: "Is Neil’s dad from The Inbetweeners on Tipping Point? Oh, wait, it's a lookalike."

"Ah thought it was Neil's dad from The Inbetweeners hahah," another echoed, while a third joked: "He's the spitting image of him."
