Tipping Point contestant's answer leaves fans in disbelief

Tipping Point fans were left shaking their heads at a contestant's answer to a geography question on today's show.

Ben Shephard welcomed another four contestants on the latest episode of the ITV show - when Sue, Darius, Stephanie and Jay took on the arcade style machine.

Sue and Stephanie impressively navigated their way through to the head-to-head round to see which contestant was going to play for the £10,000.

This was when the host asked Stephanie: "In terms of population, which is the largest city in South America?"

However, Stephanie seemed to misunderstand the question when she answered: "There's only really one that's coming to mind so I'm just going to say it. Brazil."

The ITV host then suggested that she might have meant to say Brasilia - as this is the capital city of Brazil rather than the country.

But fans of the show took to Twitter to suggest the Good Morning Britain presenter was being too generous.

Charles said: "erm NO Ben, dont give her a spade to dig herself out... she actually thought Brazil was a city... #TippingPoint"

Steve said: "Brazil’s a city now?! #TippingPoint"

Simon commented: "That famous city. Brazil #TippingPoint"

Kay added: "Umm babe, Brazil aint a city #TippingPoint"

It was revealed the correct answer to the question was Sao Paolo - and Sue progressed to the final to compete for the £10,000 jackpot.

The retired civil servant built up £3,600 in the final round and opted to take the money.

Tipping Point continues tomorrow at 4pm on ITV and ITVHub
