Tipping Point contestant horrifies fans with baffling wrong answer to easy question

Tipping Point viewers were astonished when player Martin answered a question wrong that they deemed incredibly easy.

Host Ben Shephard asked: "The red fox is a distant relation to which domesticated pet animal?"

Martin looked thoughtful and then guessed "cat?", and viewers did not let him forget about it.

When he went on to win the show, one viewer tweeted: "Given that this fool through the cat was a distant relation of the fox, he’s already won far more than he deserved #TippingPoint ".

"A fox is a distant relation to the cat Erm... #TippingPoint " added another.

"The fox is related to which domestic animal?? Answer - cat" penned a third alongside laughing face emojis.

"A fox is related to a cat? You absolute pillock #TippingPoint " quipped another.

Meanwhile, other viewers were distracted by the "ironic" question Ben had asked earlier on in the show.

Host Ben asked the contestants: "Which planet in our solar system is the only one with intelligent life?"

Nick buzzed in straight away and answered: "Earth."

Viewers all made the same joke about the awkward question (ITV)

He was correct, but the question came at an awkward time given Megan's fail on the previous question.

Ben had asked: "Which reality TV series released a number of online mini episodes titled Fresh Out Of Essex?"

Megan buzzed in straight away, but then appeared to go totally blank and could not even offer a guess before the time ran out.

One wrote: "Earth has intelligent life, present #tippingpoint contestants excepted"

"Earth the only place with intelligent life? Well the way things are, I don't know. It's debatable if there is any intelligent life anywhere," wrote a fourth.

Others added: "As always, this show is devoid of intelligence #TippingPoint" and: "That question was clearly wrong. Intelligent life on earth? This proves that to be untrue. #tippingpoint".

* Tipping Point airs on weekdays on ITV at 4pm
