Tipping Point Ben Shephard praises 'very generous' player minutes into show

Ben Shephard was in disbelief after a player's interjection minutes into today's Tipping Point.

The presenter welcomed three new players on Friday's edition as the popular ITV game show continues with its new format. Naomi, Dan and Maureen were testing their wits to see if they could win big money from the arcade style machine.

Each player is given three tokens to input into the machine during the first round. Naomi got the first question correct but decided to pass the opportunity on to another player to use one of their coins.

The retail product trainer from Belfast felt guilty over her move before Maureen stepped in. She said: "It's fine."

The contestant's interjection prompted Naomi to pass the counter to her. She said: "I'm so sorry. It's gonna be you".

The host was taken aback by the exchange and claimed the move was unprecedented. He added: "Wow. No one has ever asked for the first counter before. This is very generous."

Maureen proved Naomi wrong as she she managed to push over three counters with her first drop. However, the exam invigilator failed to build on her £150 haul and was eliminated from the show at the end of the first round.

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV and ITV Hub
