Patrick Bonner Maher's season is over after a scan confirmed that the Tipperary ace has suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
The potent attacker injured his right knee in the first half of the Premier men's four-point win over All-Ireland champions Limerick on Sunday, and was forced to leave the field on a stretcher.
In a statement released by Tipperary GAA this morning, the county confirmed that the forward underwent a scan on Monday night - revealing the full extent of the double All-Ireland winning star's injury.

The news comes as a major blow for Liam Sheedy, who has seen the wing forward in fine form in 2019 - but the two-time All Star now faces surgery and at least nine months on the sidelines.
Tipperary also lost corner back Cathal Barrett to a hamstring problem in the first half of the Semple Stadium clash, but his injury is thought to be less serious and he could still be in contention to feature in this year's Munster final pending a scan later tonight.
Tipp will face the Treaty men once again after Sunday's Munster final dress rehearsal as John Kiely's men return to Semple Stadium on June 30.
