Tipperary appoint James Woodlock and Paddy Christie to underage roles

Former Tipperary hurler James Woodlock has been announced as the county’s new minor hurling manager, while Paddy Christie will take charge of the under-20 footballers.

Woodlock takes over the role from his Drom and Inch clubmate Paul Collins having been involved with the Tipp under-16 side in recent years.

Joining Woodlock will be his ex-Tipperary teammate Conor O’Brien (Eire Óg Annacarthy Donohill), Damian Ryan (Portroe), Brendan Ferris (Marlfield) and Cormac McGrath (Ballinahinch), with further additions expected once Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.

Former Dublin full-back Christie, whose mother hails from Lorrha in North Tipperary, will combine the under-20 job with the coaching role he already fills with the senior team, who delivered a first Munster title since 1935 last year.

He replaces Tom McGlinchey and will be assisted by the rest of the senior management team, with further appointments also in the offing.
