PANCHKULA: A tipper truck has been caught smuggling illegally mined sand and gravel for the third time in Panchkula. On Friday, mining officials caught the truck driver transporting sand and gravel which was illegally mined from Ghaggar River. They also failed to produce valid documents and receipts supporting the gravel transportation.
The tipper truck was caught transporting sand and gravel six months ago, after which the truck owner managed to get the truck released from the court. Later, the same truck was caught illegally transporting gravel and the owner managed to get the truck released again.
Police said on Friday, they caught the same truck for the third time, transporting illegally mined gravel. Mining officer Bhupinder Singh and Abhimanyu, in his police complaint, sought registration of a case against truck owner Naib Singh for repeatedly violating the Mines and Mineral (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957.
The mining department also strongly advised against release of the truck from the court this time.
