Tiny run-down beach hut snapped up for £30,000 just days after hitting the market

There are certain properties such as million-pound mansions and super cheap homes that often attract a lot of attention. But sometimes it is the most peculiar types of properties that become the most sought-after.

One tiny beach hut has sold for an eye-watering £30,000, despite it being in a completely run-down state. The shabby looking shed was put on the market last week and after much interest, it was snapped up just two days later.

Despite its peeling paintwork and worn down roof, an influx of prospective buyers saw potential in the blue and yellow hut due to its prime location in Westward Ho, a picturesque seaside village in north Devon.

The beach hut named 'Lazy Daze' still has a flurry of enquiries flooding in for it, despite already being sold.

"If we'd had four or five of them, we could have sold them all," Simon Bright, Director of Bright's estate agent told Devon Live.

Measuring just 2.44m x 1.76m, Lazy Daze is located just off the promenade. It comes with mains electricity and the right to access a water tap.

Surrounded by a generous plot of land, it boasts stunning views that look out to sea - which is presumably why it was so popular.

Simon added that this was the first beach hut they had advertised this year, and that they are rarely put on the market.

Beach huts have soared in popularity in recent years, making them even harder to get hold of. In some parts of the UK, the candy coloured huts can sell for six figures.

Although such figures haven't yet been achieved in Westward Ho!, Simon said they were becoming increasingly sought after.

"Every time we get one, they go up in price," he added.
