Tiny phones with scary features found next to Walton jail

Convicted criminals trying to get their hands on tiny mobile phones that can be “hidden up inmates bums” were dealt a blow today by Merseyside Police.

Following a tip-off from a member of the public, police in Sefton intercepted suspected class A drugs and prohibited phones from being thrown into HMP Liverpool.

Images posted on Police Sefton Facebook page shows several packages wrapped in cling-film or bubble wrap that were intended for inmates.

The phones themselves are just over two centimetres wide and seven centimetres in length - smaller than a standard disposable lighter - show how much easier they would be for inmates to hide from prison staff.

The Zanco phones are advertised as some of the smallest phones in the world and retail for around £25 but can sell for around £800 to inmates according to Mirror Online.

The model claims to be the “worlds smallest thinnest mini phone” and made from 100% plastic designed to slip undetected through security scanners.

Sources told the paper the phones are small enough to be hidden in “body cavities” to avoid detection during searches.

The model pictured here appears to be the Zanco Bee which is advertised as having the worrying feature of a “built-in voice changer with 13 different voices” which could be used to disguise the identity of the caller.
