Tiny London flat on market for £1,100 a month - but bed is in an actual cupboard

A studio flat has been put up for rent at £1,100 per month - but the person who decides to rent it will need to sleep in a cupboard.

The property, located on a residential street between Stockwell and Brixton in south London, is described by estate agents as "bright and airy", with "good natural light" and a communal garden.

It features an average size kitchen with a view of the garden, a washing machine, a table and two foldable chairs.

In the living room area there is a small sofa, a wardrobe and a wooden desk.

The bathroom has a shower just next to the toilet. There is also a basin, an electric heater and wooden floor.

But the strangest part of the flat is the bedroom area, which is rather peculiar.

Even though there is some spare space in the living room for a bed, the new tenant will have to sleep on a mattress fitted in a windowless cupboard.

To go to bed, they will have to climb up a wooden ladder, making sure they pay attention when waking up in the morning as the ceiling is not high.

There is no space around the bed, but only two small shelves and two lamps at the rear of the cupboard.

In the description of the property on the website Houses For Sale and To Rent - where the studio flat is priced at £1,050, down from the original price of £1,110 on the estate agents' website - Coopers of Stockwell said: "This bright and airy studio flat offers a charming and affordable living space in an unbeatable location.

"The versatile layout has plenty of in-built storage and there is a stunning shared garden.

"Situated down the picturesque road of St Martins, the property is ideally located - only a 5-minute walk to Stockwell station and nearby to all the amenities that Brixton's vibrant High Street has to offer."

Bills are not included in the rent price.

Earlier this year, a tiny London flat with a bed crammed into the kitchen was on sale for £115,000, the same as a three-bed semi-detached house in Leeds.

The studio flat, in Bromley, was complete with kitchen appliances - but a photo showed the head of the bed sitting just a foot from the oven door.

Another small property in Kensington with just 79 sq. ft. of space was put on the market for £175,000.

Pictures released by the estate agents showcased how the space could be used - with the bed, stove and shower all crammed in next to each other.
