Tiny 'gem' of a house goes on sale for £100,000 - but it has very unusual history

If you're on the look out for a new home in Merseyside, a very unique property has hit the market.

The tiny house has been described by estate agents as an "absolute gem" and could be yours for £100,000.

However the one-bedroom home on Preston New Road in Southport has a very unusual history that might surprise you.

As reported by The Liverpool Echo, the property, which is a quirky size and shape, has been converted to accommodation from its previous use.

It turns out that before it was a house, the building used to be a funeral parlour.

Yes, really!

There are some clues to its former occupancy, as the property is surrounded by a black fence, with huge gothic windows set either side of a set of patio doors to the front of the house.

Photos uploaded to RightMove  offer a glimpse inside the house, which is barely recognisable as a former funeral home following a major renovation.

Since being transformed, the home now boasts the addition of a clever mezzanine level.

The property's description on RightMove reads: "This unique property is a rare find and a fantastic opportunity for purchasers seeking something truly special. Situated in a highly sought after location of Churchtown.

"This absolute gem of a property is located in a particularly pleasant spot, with playing fields both directly opposite and to one side.

"The thriving village of Churchtown is a short walk away, along with nearby bus stops providing direct access to the village and Southport town centre which boasts a host of local shops and amenities and a diverse range of cafes, bars & eateries."

It continues: "The accommodation includes a comfortable lounge/living space with feature fireplace and a richness of natural light. There is a practical and charming kitchen area with wall and base units, along with ample worktops and space for appliances.

"Concluding the ground floor, there is an extremely modern three-piece shower suite comprising of low level WC, pedestal wash hand basin and walk in shower cubicle with wall mounted electric shower. A quirky paddle staircase then reveals the loft style sleeping gallery which again offers plenty of light."

The property is being sold by Flexi-Agent in Southport.

Viewings are available immediately strictly by appointment only.
