A North Staffordshire law firm has acquired a number of key departments from a rival solicitors.

Stoke-on-Trent-based Tinsdills Solicitors has taken over Grindeys’ Corporate Law, Commercial Property, Dispute Resolution and Wills, Trusts and Probate departments.

The deal will mean each of the departments at Tinsdills increasing by around 42 per cent – with Dispute Resolution and Wills and Trusts and Probate doubling in size.

Tim Cogan, managing director, compliance officer and head of the Personal Injury department at Tinsdills Solicitors, said: "Tinsdills Solicitors and Grindeys Solicitors have both successfully worked in the local legal market as independent providers of high-quality legal advice to both personal and business clients for many years.

As part of the deal 12 staff will be transferred to Tinsdills – taking the firm’s total workforce to more than 100.

The acquisition comes just weeks after Beswicks Legal announced it has acquired Grindeys’ family team and their clients.

The deal saw Beswicks’ family department double in size.

Caroline Gray, Tinsdills director and head of the Business Services department, said: "It is fantastic that my team is growing with like-minded staff who will bring their expert knowledge to contribute to the wonderful service that we offer.

"I am sure that this will help to expand and enhance our team and allow us to bring our legal expertise to more clients in the local area and beyond."

Grindeys director Susan Lewis is supporting the handover of clients following the acquisition.

She added: "I am so pleased to be supporting this acquisition with Tinsdills Solicitors. It will be great for both teams to begin working together to pool knowledge and continue fantastic client relationships."
