Tino Asprilla issues come and get me plea to potential new owners of Newcastle United

Newcastle United legend Tino Asprilla has offered to make a spectacular return to Tyneside if the takeover is completed.

The deal is understood to have edged closer with the Premier League evaluating the credentials of a new chairman.

The £300million deal is believed to have been agreed and signed off by Mike Ashley, with Yasir Al-Rumayyan of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund being mooted as the potential new boardroom face of the Magpies.

If the deal was to be completed, Amanda Staveley of PCP Capital Partners, the Reuben brothers and PIF would all have stakes in the club.

It's a move which has prompted widespread discussion among pundits, commentators and fans alike, with many excited by the prospect by the end of the 13-year Ashley era.

Asprilla himself has taken to social media on several occasions in recent days to express his delight at the possible change of ownership at his former club.

The former striker posted on Sunday morning: "Can’t contain my excitement of getting rid of Mike Ashley!

"Newcastle United and fans deserve it."

An hour later, Asprilla went one step further and decided to offer to make a return to St James' Park in a coaching capacity once a takeover is finalised.

He wrote: "Would be happy to be the striker trainer for the new owners of Newcastle United."
