A 94-year-old man was killed in a crash Monday in southwest suburban Oak Forest.

James D. Patton was a passenger in one of five vehicles involved in a crash about 4:25 p.m. near Cicero Avenue and 167th Street in Oak Forest, according to Oak Forest police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Emergency responders found Patton unconscious at the scene and took him to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead at 2:50 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said. He lived in Tinley Park.

An autopsy Wednesday found he died of multiple injuries from the crash and his death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Two drivers involved in the crash also suffered injuries that did not appear to be life threatening, police said. The crash remains under investigation by Oak Forest police.
